ATEX, IECEx and international certifications

| IECEx | International | Voluntary IEC scheme, recognised in many countries (Australia, Middle East, Asia…) |
| INMETRO | Brazil | Mandatory certification in Brazil, based on IEC standards |
| UL / CSA | United States, Canada | Class / Division or Zone classification under the NEC and the CEC |
| TR CU / EAC | Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan | Technical regulation TR CU 012/2011 of the Eurasian Economic Union |
ATEX and IECEx: what is the difference?

Both are based on the same EN/IEC 60079 series of standards. ATEX is a European regulatory obligation. IECEx is an international scheme that makes export easier, with certificates that can be checked online.
